With over two decades of tradition behind it, the Myrtle Beach Marathon celebrates its 23rd annual installment on Saturday, March 7th. The marathon has won the acclaim and praise of long-distance runners and weekend warriors alike for its flat and fast course and comfortable late winter climate. This year looks to be the biggest race yet as the marathon welcomes thousands of runners and spectators looking to challenge their personal bests and cheer on participants to victory.
While the main feature of the Myrtle Beach Marathon is the big race on Saturday, there are plenty of great events scheduled throughout the days leading up to the marathon. Runners and are invited to visit the Health and Wellness Expo taking place on Friday, March 6th at Dave & Busters in Broadway at the Beach. This event will last from 10 AM to 8 PM and during the festivities runners can receive 20% off food and non-alcoholic drinks, pick up their race packets, peruse lots of great vendors and enjoy all the fun to be had with the games of Dave & Busters via free unlimited play cards!
As race day begins there will be several events that cater to runners of all skill levels. Of course, things will kick off with the full 26.2 mile marathon, with a start time of 7 AM. There is also a half-marathon race that begins bright and early at 7 AM. Both the marathon and half-marathon begin at the intersection of 21st Ave North and Grissom Parkway. Shortly after runners embark on those two races, a 5K commences at 8 AM along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.
